ReplyDeletei herd you wanted to know two reasons for the cival war. one reason was because the south wanted slavery and the north believed that every body was the same. And another reason is over land

Their were several reasons. One, and the one most southerners fought for, was states rights. They thought (and were made to think by rich plantation owners) that if the national government could take away slaves, they could take away anything (again hinting at why the south was called the Confederacy, meaning state is more powerful). Also, their was the slave issue. But the Civil War was known as a rich man's war, but a poor man's fight. Being that most plantation owners, who pushed for war and were a large part of starting the war, bought replacements for $300 and they did not have to fight. And obviously, most southerners did not even own slaves. But a lot liked not being the lowest of the social classes. Lincoln's election was the final straw. This prompted the start of the Civil War at Fort Sum...

Slavery- The act of enslaving another taking all rights and privileges from them in order for them to be submitted to your will.
ReplyDeleteReason for slavery- So labor that requires many could be done for individuals or for people in or associated with a major or minor business.
Dear Lin,
From my point of view it is almost indescribable as far as what it is like to be a slave. You have no rights your life is what your owner makes it. You must feel helpless you look forward to your death for you believe escape is not an option. In the field all you see is your life cotton, cotton and more cotton. You find yourself asking every day where did I go wrong? Then you realize no. It is not me it’s them. They did this to you hatred boils inside of you. It is a feeling that is impossible to ignore. When the end of your life’s path is right with you you can look back and say it was them I was the one who was wronged and you laugh and go to the bliss of heaven with that thought.
Thanks,
Nick
